She pulled up in her driveway and walked up to her front door, shoulders slumped and head down in painful misery. Will this nightmare existence ever end? She had a past she rarely spoke of and she kept herself closed off to everyone and everything around her. She would smile ever so sweetly at strangers passing by and pretend that all was well in the presence of would be friends and acquaintances. But no one knew what was really inside; the overwhelming feeling that she was nothing, an insignificant speck in human existence. She knew she would never be able to have close friendships. Everyone she knew already had one or two close friends. She was nothing more than an acquaintance, someone to call on when the preferred friends weren't available. These and more thoughts plagued her endlessly. No one knew what she felt inside. She would never let anybody know. She tried and tried to rid herself of these dark and terrible fears, but she just couldn't quite shake them off....

She stood at the edge of the cliff, wondering if she should jump and end it all, or slip back into the shadows, alone and unnoticed. Trying to deal with the whole human experience was getting to be unbearably overwhelming. She found herself alone, a lot. She always seemed to attract the worst of humanity and she couldn't understand why. Occasionally, she would find a few friendly people and she developed fragile ties. But those ties were often broken as she was too scared to move forward to develop deeper bonds. It was always in the back of her mind that she was just so unimportant, so insignificant to these friends of hers that she just couldn't take any steps toward making those fragile connections stronger.
She slowly walked away from the edge. No one would come to her funeral anyway. No one would even remember her. Strange how that bothered her. She walked back to her car and slowly drove back home....
