She stood at the edge of the cliff, wondering if she should jump and end it all, or slip back into the shadows, alone and unnoticed. Trying to deal with the whole human experience was getting to be unbearably overwhelming. She found herself alone, a lot. She always seemed to attract the worst of humanity and she couldn't understand why. Occasionally, she would find a few friendly people and she developed fragile ties. But those ties were often broken as she was too scared to move forward to develop deeper bonds. It was always in the back of her mind that she was just so unimportant, so insignificant to these friends of hers that she just couldn't take any steps toward making those fragile connections stronger.
She slowly walked away from the edge. No one would come to her funeral anyway. No one would even remember her. Strange how that bothered her. She walked back to her car and slowly drove back home....
